The Jericho Canal Side redevelopment is Oxford’s last and best - indeed only - chance to secure what is desperately needed, that is, a development built around a beautiful square and a calm quayside where generations to come, can live, work and enjoy life.

For a sustainable community in Jericho, there have to be two broad objectives:

1. A clearly defined public realm (that is a new piazza by St Barnabas Church, and an accessible canal quayside and its connecting paths) serving all the activities and buildings that will constitute the new development, and

2. A serious effort at a sustainable extension to the existing Jericho community in terms of the types of housing, employment and community facilities provided.
